Childhood:

Sonja was born and grew up in Vinderen in Oslo. She took secondary school exam in 1954. She trained in dressmaking and tailoring at the Oslo Vocational School.

Queen:

1959 was the first time Sonja met Crown Prince Harald. Nine years later in 1968 they were married in Oslo Cathedral. When King Olav died 17 January 1991, Harald took the throne and became king. This of course meant that Sonja became the Queen of Norway.

Spare time:

Sonja spends much of her free time with her family. They go skiing and walk mountain hikes.
